Harry releases On the Road to Kingdom Come and Greatest Stories Live. Harry performed over 230 concerts in 1976; 130 of which were benefits.

Tom's run as host of Make a Wish completes it's fifth and final year. He also releases his first solo album Life is Like That.

• 4 - Danceathon at Huff Gym on the campus of the University of Illinois,Champaign, Illinois. This benefit concert was broadcast live on the campus radio station, WPJU. This concert featured an early longer version of On the Road to Kingdom Come (song).

• 24 - Billboard Magazine ad for Greatest Stories Live album appears. Text from the ad: "The one word that describes HARRY CHAPIN is simply incredible.
